Pedro Cardona, Deputy Manager of Technology and Systems at Andbank, opened the Blockchain conference that was held at the Andorra la Vella Congress Centre, organized by Actinn and Lykke and with the participation of Andbank.
Pedro Cardona started the presentation of the speakers by explaining the new revolutionary data storage system, Blockchain, and announcing the “technological transformation that Andbank is undergoing to become a 21st century bank, and where ‘Blockchain’ technology will have a big role”.
The conclusion of the conference was that the banking and energy sectors will benefit most from the implementation of Blockchain technology in Andorra.
The seven conferences, in which several experts on the subject participated, focused on this new system of revolutionary data storage and a new form of digital asset exchange. It is a database where any company or user can keep a copy of all the information generated and make transactions by consensus.
The main objective of this new technology is to influence society directly and provide greater transparency in networks, thus allowing greater fluidity in transactions and operations that any user or company wants to carry out. An applicable example is a financial transaction, which is as fast as sending an email and also ensures that the data is not leaked or pirated.
The experts also considered that Andorra has to legislate in this area and ensure that the country’s dimensions are ideal for its consolidation. The aim of this Conference was to publicize ‘Blockchain’ and introduce it as “the technology that will impact the whole world”.
A successful example already established in more than 23 countries is Solar-Coin, where a cryptocurrency has been created. In other words, this is a method of digital exchange to pay the owners of a photovoltaic power plant for solar energy that can be produced virtually.
François Sonnet, co-founder of the company ElectricChain, who presented the talk on the energy sector, explained that talking about ‘Blockchain’ now is like talking about the Internet in the eighties.
