The Juan Ayuso Foundation is born – with the support of Andbank – to promote cycling among young people

The Foundation is to grant scholarships and direct aid from 200 euros to approximately 1,000 euros to school-aged young people with few resources who want to do this sport.

Escaldes-Engordany, 20 February 2024

The Juan Ayuso-Andbank Foundation was presented today; an initiative led by Juan Ayuso, professional cyclist and racer on UAE Team Emirates. The Foundation was born with the aim of promoting and encouraging sport and, in particular, cycling, among young people – especially those with limited means – as a crucial element of their personal development.

The Foundation team believes that the values of cycling greatly contribute to leading a healthy, balanced and orderly life. According to Ayuso, “cycling requires discipline, dedication, effort and perseverance, values that require the cyclist’s commitment to improve a little each day”. The cyclist believes that it is precisely this commitment to oneself “that helps young people to increase their self-esteem, overcome complex phases of life, and relate in a healthy way to their environment”.

The Foundation’s activity will be based on three pillars:

– The first will be the composition of the Ayuso Team UAE Junior, composed of young racers who will be the Foundation’s visible face in competitions and who will convey the values of the Foundation: commitment, discipline, effort, teamwork and spirit of being the best one can be. “The main goal this season is to get started and create a stable structure that allows us to consolidate ourselves in the category as a leading team for out Juniors’ personal and sporting development”, says Javier Ayuso.
– The second pillar focuses on the granting of scholarships and direct aid from approximately 200 euros to 1,000 euros to those school-aged young people with limited resources who want to do this sport.
– Finally, the Foundation will be actively collaborating in several social initiatives related to mobility in developing countries or areas (regions in Africa), where Juan Ayuso’s experience can provide special added value. According to Juan Ayuso, “an idea that still remains to be developed but one we are excited about would be to send bicycles to these developing regions, which would not only serve to introduce young people to bicycles and focus them on sport, but would also create jobs for them as bike mechanics, and so on”.

The Foundation will be starting its activity in March 2024.
