He was Chairman of Barclays Spain for 30 years. For the last three years he has been Chairman of the Advisory Board at Caixabank.
Daniel García-Pita, current Chairman of the Board of Directors, will be the new Chairman of the Advisory Board at Andbank Spain.
Madrid, 27 November 2017. Andbank Spain, an institution specialising in private banking, will be strengthened in December with the appointment of Carlos Martínez de Campos as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, replacing Daniel García-Pita, who will chair the Advisory Board at Andbank Spain. This appointment will be effective as of 12 December.
Martínez de Campos, who until recently has been chairman of the Private Banking Advisory Board at Caixabank, has an extensive track record in the financial sector. He headed Barclays Bank’s establishment in Spain, and was appointed Chairman of the bank. He combined this position with those of Chairman of Barclays France, director of the German private bank Merck Finck & Co. and European Manager and, later, manager of the Group Division that included the international network of offices and private banking in the United Kingdom and internationally. As such, he was a member of the Barclays Group Executive Committee in London.
In addition, Martínez de Campos has been chairman or member of the Board of Directors or the Advisory Board at listed and unlisted companies in various fields that, in addition to finance, include property, venture capital, security, shipping, computer consulting, internet, mining, insurance, hospitals, and so on. He has extensive experience on audit committees, risk committees and other corporate control bodies.
The recruitment of Carlos Martínez de Campos as Chairman of the Board of Directors will allow Andbank to reinforce its strategy in Spain and thereby consolidate its position in the private banking market, where it is one of the main operators.
The Andbank Spain Board of Directors will continue to have Javier Gómez-Acebo, Fernando Herrero, Eduardo Muela and Jaume Aubia as independent directors.
Carlos Aso, CEO of Andbank Spain, explains that “having an asset like Carlos Martínez de Campos, with experience in private banking and in management and advice for the most important banks worldwide, will help us boost our growth in the Spanish market. We are lucky to still have Daniel García-Pita, whose experience and value have been vital for Andbank Spain in the last 3 years”.
